As many of You already know, FryingPan isn't actually a very new software. In fact I've been working on it for some time now, but I have to say, that the results of my work are getting better every release. Mainly the concept of the program was born a couple of years ago, when... I told a friend of mine about my discovery concerning MMc documentation ;). It turned out that far before I even thought of building a software, I was asked if it would be fine to place an article on some Amiga-related web site.. "Well.. why not?" i thought... Until now there have been three bigger attempts; 0.01, which was the very very first thing (poorly programmed, offering not much...), 0.02, a bit innovated, 0.3 that was the very first attempt to separate interfaces and... 0.4 that (I hope) will provide a reasonable interface to any programmer who would like to try it. Version 0.4 is the very first version that uses external engine to control drive ("Optical.drive"). This engine offers very easy access to drive structures and provides interface to most of the functions and features offered by it. The program itself is just the GUI with a little piece of code making all the modules working together and displaying whatever it can get from optical. Version 0.4 is also the very first version that is able to burn DVD+-R(W) media properly; as almost every kind of media is supported now (at least - program knows what it does and controls the process ;). I made it thanks to the people who supported me with money (by registering and making donations) so I could work on my own DVD recorder. Yes, that's true... since 0.3x FryingPan is a shareware program. Speaking of shareware programs which still evolve is a bit controversive; many people believe that registering such software is pointless, but I tell You something: each single registration gives me faith that FryingPan's development isn't pointless and gives me strength to fight with many weird problems, so.. if You see a beta version working for You and are hesitating.. think of registration. The key file is not going to change too soon :). |
